Exercise technique

toe touch sit (wall)

Stand with your back lightly touching a wall, balance on one leg, lift the opposite leg in front, and reach to touch its toes while sitting the hips back. Return to standing under control and repeat on the other side.

How do you perform this exercise?

  1. Stand tall with your back lightly in contact with a wall, feet about hip-width and 12–18 inches in front of the wall.
  2. Shift weight to the standing leg, brace your abs, and lift the opposite leg in front with the knee slightly bent and toes pulled up.
  3. Reach toward the lifted foot’s toes as you sit your hips back and down, keeping light contact with the wall and your chest up.
  4. Keep the standing knee tracking over the toes; do not let it cave inward.
  5. Briefly touch the toes (or reach as far as control allows) without rounding your lower back.
  6. Drive through the standing heel and engage your core to return to the start. Switch legs and repeat.
