Exercise technique

boxing right uppercut

From a boxing stance, throw a right uppercut by driving through the right foot and rotating the hips and torso while bringing the right fist up a tight arc. Return to guard and repeat rhythmically for conditioning.

How do you perform this exercise?

  1. Stand in orthodox stance: left foot forward, right foot back, knees soft, hands up at chin, elbows in.
  2. Settle a bit into the right hip with the right heel light and core braced.
  3. Drive from the floor—push through the ball of the right foot and rotate the hips and torso to the left.
  4. As you rotate, bring the right fist up close to your body in a vertical arc, palm facing you, elbow ~90°, exhaling on the punch.
  5. Stop at chin-to-nose height without overreaching; keep the left hand guarding your face.
  6. Retract the right hand along the same path, reset your hips, and repeat smoothly for reps or time.
