STARK vs Epilog: which workout log should you choose?
Two French workout logs, compared feature by feature: what the free version really includes, the tools that help you during the session, programs, Apple Watch and price.
Updated October 15, 2026 · Written by the STARK team. We make STARK; Epilog details come from its website and App Store listing.
Short answer: STARK comes out ahead on 13 of the 20 points compared, Epilog on 2 (Android and the launch yearly price), and they are level on the other 5. Its free version keeps your full history (Epilog: 21 days), and it adds 1,394 exercises, 30+ ready-made programs, warm-up and next-load suggestions, a plate calculator and a friends feed. Highlighted rows: STARK offers more. “Not stated” means Epilog does not mention it on its website or App Store listing. Prices from the French App Store, October 2026.
The free version: the biggest gap
This is where the two apps differ the most. On Epilog’s free plan, your history only covers the last 21 days, statistics are a preview and you can save four session templates. On STARK, you log as many workouts as you want and keep your whole history for free; Premium only adds extra programs and statistics over the year or all time.
For progressive overload, your history is the whole point: you need to see what you lifted last month to know what to lift today.
During the session: STARK does more of the thinking
- Warm-up suggested before your first heavy sets.
- Plates calculated for the bar: you see which discs to load.
- Next load suggested from your previous sessions, so you progress without doing maths.
- Last weights in view on every set, with a rest timer on iPhone and Apple Watch.
Programs and exercises
STARK ships with more than 30 ready-made programs, from full body for beginners to PPL, upper/lower, PHUL and StrongLifts 5×5, and a library of 1,394 exercises with video and technique cues. Epilog focuses on logging the routine you build yourself, with its own filterable exercise library.
Where Epilog is a good choice
If you use an Android phone, Epilog is available and STARK is not yet. Its launch yearly price (€24.99) is also slightly lower than STARK Premium’s (€29.99), although its monthly plan costs more (€4.99 versus €2.99) and its yearly price will rise to €39.99.
